Meet Truman the Bonsai

I love the transformation of plants so this is where I will document one of my prouder plant progresses. Truman the bonsai came from one of the Bonsai classes I took with a friend. The picture on the left is Truman as a pre-bonsai Dwarf Jade from September 2023. and right is post-bonsai from November 2023

I pretty quickly found out the amount of sunlight Truman would need to come back every year. The indirect sunlight in a window would not be adequate for the long term. The image on the left was from May 2024 where Truman lost most of his leaves. At this point I decieded to put him outside in direct partial sun for all of the summer. He grew back fuller as the picture to the right is from October 2024!

In the spring of 2025, I gave Truman a larger pot, the below picture is dated July 2025. As of January 2026, Truman is doing well. He seems to lose a lot of leaves in the winter time but they have already started to grow back. Once the temperature reaches consistently over 45 degrees he will be relocated to a sunny spot.
